It's absolutely unfair to expect it, but I don't think it's crazy to want it. I didn't expect Surgical Steel to be an absolute banger-fest, for example.

Well yeah, but if you're self-admittedly someone who likes music to have obvious hooks and then you listen to something without obvious straightforward hooks and because of that you're out...I can see where you're coming from

Lots of death metal has hooks, though. "Lashed to the Slave Stick" comes to mind! I guess my comparison to CoL was mainly the production, song structure (or lack thereof) and general hype it received on here

i think youre conflating hype on sput with hype in general (rest of the internet)

both blood incantation albums have more ratings on rym than any ulcerate record despite the former band being only half as old
