I don't hear any Watershed in the single, but maybe I'm the only one?

Maybe a little on the outro and on the keys just after the midpoint.

I kinda got some hints from Watershed, maybe I'm grasping for something that reminds me of the good old days with Opeth. Either way, it's a great first single and I remain optimistic for the new record.

Yeah the single is nice, agreed! Happy they went in this direction, very curious for the rest. Mike said the record was really diverse, so we don't know anything yet.

Reminds me more of Pale Communion than Sorceress or Watershed

Growing on me. It does reminds me more of Pale Communion, especially one bit that sounds like Cusp of Eternity. Like the production samples and FX.

But yeah some sections although well put together feel like repeated ideas

It's already a good sign for the new album that Heart in Hand has better production and smoother transitions between the different sections. The songwriting got kind of bombastic here, and the louder moments don't sound very good. Probably their worst produced album.

This is still solid but easily their worst. If the next one is better than this and PC I'll be satisfied.

Who's the guy who design the artwork for opeth since heritage? Capcom should hire him for the resident evil stuff!!!

It's funny that everybody here can easily switch to Obscura to compensate the lack of technical death metal of opeth, but they still stick to opeth hoping for them to return to their old style. You guys are silly as fuck.

And Obscura are even MORE TECHNICAL than opeth, I'd say. They are closer to Cynic than Death.
