I consider them basically a tie, but DTGL is more solid all around and Spencer's voice is stronger (plus it has To Whom It May Concern, Returning Empty Handed, and Casting Such a Thin Shadow).

Initially DTGL was the clear cut winner for me, but LITSOS is a hell of a grower. Emergency Broadcast: The End is Near and Too Bright to See are top 5 UO. That said, they are more or less tied for best UO album for me. Lost has a very, very slight edge.

Emim — yeah Returning Empty Handed is top 3 UO for me. But A Moment Suspended in Time is my favorite UO song.

Returning Empty Handed has to do with Aaron doing a McDonalds run at 4 am and realizing he didn't go to the 24h one

a-a-ron fat joke [3]

Also, Lost has chonkier riffs than Define and is for a different mood, but equally stunning.

Yeah Lost and DTGL are tied for me as well. Disam is firmly the third best though. Honestly love that stretch though, one of the best three album stretches in the whole genre.

DTGL edges out LITSOS for me because LITS has some weaker tracks, whereas barring Salmarnir, DTGL is solid from start to finish, particularly To Whom It May Concern which is a fantastic closer. I've never been a fan of like Desperate Times and The Created Void, both seem like tracks where they tried something, it didn't pan out, and they didn't have a better track to replace them. but both are generally fantastic. Disambiguation on the other hand a handful of tracks that don't really work imo, but def fits at #3

I dunno why anyone has a problem with Salmarnir, the buildup of that track leading into Returning Empty Handed is one of the best parts

they could’ve made something with a just-as-cool segue cuz if that existed you’d like it more

Is Slamalander the one with the talking bits from The Matrix? I skip it every time
