I'm. Not in love with the game just cuz I accurately point out all kendrick is is a gimmicky game/lil Wayne combo/knock off

Anna wise is a pop star

Bilal is a pop star

Pharelll is a pop star

What are you talking about

I'm pretty sure he's not riding on the coattails of the likes of Bilal and Anna Wise. They aren't even that big pop stars. Plus, Pharell wasn't even given a main credit, defeating the purpose of using a big pop star to promote your song.

"Kendrick is a gimmicky game/lil wayne combo/ knock off"

Lil' Wayne???

Yes, but your argument reeks of double-standards.

Pharrell is the only artist you mentioned that I would class as a 'pop star'.

He's riding on the coattails of Interscope and their million dollar budgets, to appeal to people who barely like rap at all and wouldn't care if pop took its place entirely, I mean: if kendrick had to do an album with minimal production, you'd notice how gimicky his style is. Never seen such a sloppy mc get so much praise for shit he has nothing to do with (instruments) while everyone ignores his struggle bars.

What double standards?

The instrumentation is still part of this album so why shouldn't that be the factor that makes this a 5 for some people just because it's not Kendrick playing it?

Nobody's praising him for that stuff, they're praising the album for it, you idiot.

Because if you just ignore the rapping part of rap and 5 something for the instruments you might as well lay a flower on the grave of hip hop

Yeah I get that they aren't praising kendrick, "you idiot", try reading what I actually said

What double standards?

You criticise Kendrick for allegedly hiring multimillion dollar producers and featuring pop stars whilst you push The Game whose albums actually do have multimillion dollar producers and feature pop artists. Hello?

to appeal to people who barely like rap

I find the production and instrumentation on this to be excellent. This whole 'to appeal to people who barely like rap' statement is bullshit. By stating it, you're doing a disservice to the whole genre. How did hip-hop start? Think about.

Hip hop started with minimalist production

It's golden age featured minimalist production

I don't think I'm doing a disservice to the genere for calling out a wack mc who is getting carried by the same corporate radio structure that hip hop used to be about dismantling

Arguing on the internet about dumb bullshit sure is fun. Wouldn't you agree?

It's not really dumb shit, I mean it's kinda what this website is about. I've got no beef with Lambs discussing this stuff (only called him an idiot jokingly, probably didn't come across like that) it's just that his reasoning doesn't matter to most people in this thread.

Sure this album features a lot of elements that are against the views of a rap purist/elitist or whatever but some people don't care about that shit and as Lambs said himself, it's made to appeal to people who barely like rap so none of that has any relevance to this album's quality.

We're discussing, not arguing. Yeah I enjoy doing this in my spare time. Im sorry you can't express contrary opinions without thinking of it as arguing. But yeah I'm Probably having more fun than the guy whining about an Internet forum in a passive aggressive effort to be self righteous.

There's other threads you can read if you don't like this one : O

Hip-hop started with sampling other music forms. Hip-hop was born on creativity. Why someone who appreciates those values wouldn't like this, I don't know.
