The last 6 minutes of Shine On (Parts 6-9) is amongst the most stunning pieces of music I've ever heard.

wish you were here sort of exemplifies what i was talking about in the animals thread, the fact that these guys could do shine on and machine on the same record while also having songs like the title track and have a cigar which are enjoyed by normies everywhere who often dont even know its pink floyd, quite a feat
and then you have to recognize how even on the long form epic pieces floyd did on this record, is there any unnecessary soloing? any forced in complex drum fills? no, its music you can get lost in. no classical interludes but gilmour channels the blues that brought the band together in the first place

As a baritone sax player, ive had people tell me they want me on tenor or alto for solos in a rock/cover band
i dont know where they get this perception that bari cant solo. the bari solo in track 1 is so fucking rich

Heard Become the Knight rant about how terrible he thought this album was and how he doesn't understand why PF gets any praise outside of their past association with psychedelics. Decided to revisit this to remind myself how stupid some "professional musicians" can be
