I only have 4 albums 1'd so it's not like I just hand them out for free ya know. Some albums just get on my nerves that bad and this is one of them lol.

My first and only time seeing these guys live was back when Akeldama had just dropped. Good times.

I finally came around to this album. as much as people say this is weedly weedly nonsense...it's really not. I mean there is some of course, but I find it's not a crutch on this. there is actually a large amount of solid chunky riffs that don't rely on normal tech death tropes

Weedles and wank imply shallow technicality, people who use that to describe this are just kinda wrong tbh

Like it or not, this is a game changing album. Once this came out, every tech death band was trying to emulate it.

For sure, its influence cannot be disputed. The copycats spawned after the release and critical reception of it are evidence enough. I think a lot of the hate for those bands gets projected on to The Faceless because they started this movement, whether they wanted to or not.

Well said. I love this album a lot and it is an excellent gateway into "non-traditional" death metal or however you wanna put it lol

Agreed, for sure. I know it served that purpose for me to a degree. And we've still got a decent cluster of good tech bands out there, so it's not all doom and gloom. You just have to dig a bit to find them, but I think that's a feature of most genres these days.
