by boc?
really you cant go wrong with any of their other LPs. geo is tougher to get into but once you do its by far their best release, campfire headphase is v easy to get into if you're new to the genre cause its a lot more chilled out and focused around melody. tomorrows harvest is kind of hit/miss with most people ive found but its my second fav personally
also in a beautiful place out in the country + most their other EPs are incredible too but i wouldn't worry about those until you've heard most of their LPs and gotten a good idea of their sound

Now that some high ratings have arrived, what exactly makes this a crowning achivement? Cause this really is one of those
albums I fail to "get"

The disconnected ambience spliced with disjointed beats and eerie voices conjure up all manner of nostalgic images of lives not lived.
As an album it's never done it for me either though dude and I love BoC

I do like this. It's a nice album to throw on when I'm reading something, but it's honestly too samey for me to just casually throw on and do nothing but listen to this. Maybe I just haven't listened enough who knows?

dont feel like your obligated to "get" something. with music taste being a wholly subjective experience you have no reason to have to like things.
that being said, i love this album because of the way it sounds. the music isn't what i would call "engaging", but i don't really like engaging music because i find it kind of surface level and dull. this works on more of a subtle, subconscious level that seeps into your repressed memories and teases out images and feelings that you usually don't look for in music.
it's really about how it sounds more than anything else. it works on the principle of sound being the most ubiquitous sensory experience of human beings. you can shut your eyes, you can not put something in your mouth to taste it, and you can refrain from feeling things with your fingers, but sound has been shoving itself into your head from before you were even out of the womb, and that is the kind of idea that this album (and most of BoC's discography) attempts to present to it's listener.
i may just be ranting like an idiot but that's my perspective on this kind of music.

Mhtrtc made me love ambient haaard dude, especially BoC.. Their beats feel so flowing and organic, it's just so natural and delightful,
the disconnected ambience spliced with disjointed beats and
eerie voices conjure up all manner of nostalgic images of lives that's not lived like Dejavu, sometimes it's like the sounds of daydreaming from my childhood and sometimes it just reminds me how delicious kid's cereal is, it evokes the innocence of my childhood, how spirited Kid I was, That I Always loved to try new fruits,, because fruits have variety of colours, the points this album is like a jelly or fruits that had always made me curious to try it because its structure and their colours, and it is even better.

lol @ the fact that every review for this is a 5.0. Somebody who gave this less than a 3.5 needs to review it.
