The verses were fine.. the chorus sucks. Expectations significantly lowered. I wasn't a fan of Boy genius so I really shouldn't be that surprised.

yeah I was thinking about this the other day. even Punisher was a hugely anticipated release and she was playing huge world tours at that point. after only one album? stranger in the alps really launched her to the top of the modern indie genre? I feel like I'm missing something because I really don't understand how you get that big after one album. I know I'm overlooking boygenius, but that's a smaller side project / supergroup and I don't think it really explains the meteoric rise

Also Better Oblivion Community Center where Conor Oberst introduced her to the rabid Bright Eyes fan base and continually praised her as being the next great thing in music. That definitely helped a bit.

Love 1/16 as singles... beats the hell out of one of our favorite bands who thought 7/11 was a good idea.
Excited to listen. Going to wait till my wife and I get the vinyl and spin it together. I saw that they are doing listening parties next week at planetariums. If we werent so busy we would go to the chicago one.
On a completely separate note, my vinyl for Punisher has a fun skip during I Know the End where it goes "close my eyes ... close my eyes ... close my eyes ..." a few times until it gets over it haha.
