While Pneuma isn't unlike equal parts Schism and The Patient, Invincible having a strong similarity to Jambi in the middle, Descending almost being a (epic) rethinking of Wings 1 and 7empest's heavy Ænima influence, it's great to hear that there are new additions to their lineage in the t/t and Culling Voices. Digging it quite a bit.

Alright I’m liking this album a lot now, but I can’t help but feel that it’s ridiculously back heavy. Descending, Culling Voices, and Tempest are among their best work.



The title track is a good opener. Invincible could’ve been cut down a bit but it’s still a decent song.



I really don’t like Pneuma. The second I heard how similar that main riff was to Schism I just couldn’t shake it. The ending is good but that song is unnecessarily long.



In tool’s usual fashion the interludes are all boring and break up the album for no reason. Though I dig Chocolate Chip Trip a lot.



Overall, I like it more than Undertow and 10,000 Days but less than Lateralus and Aenima. Great but flawed album.

Similar, but I think it’s replaced Aenima as my second favorite. Time will tell though.

So took 5gs decent stuff sat in darkness it kicked in blah blah lol right before full peak I decide I don't want to be in silence so I put headphones on and put the new tool album on still in darkness

I don't know how to describe this experience other than super intense I felt connected the whole album literally made me feel like I was connected to something and I was definitely talking in my head to 5 other "things" I kept referring to as "I" 4 of these things showed me faces through something in my room clear as day I saw these faces the 5th refused to show me it's face and I got angry about that told it i wasn't going to talk to it till it showed me it's face

When the album ended I of course immediately stopped tripping but was left with the thought that all those I talked to were me and I was them type of thing

That album was unlike any other ive ever listened to while tripping it touched every pleasure center in my mind and body

I swear too that I could hear other things in the music even the interlude songs that just sounded like noise when sober like there were more layers to the music I could hear and feel while tripping
