'I mean if you liked Symbolic and Human, I don't see why you wouldn't enjoy this.'

I hope you're right because I've already ordered it.

@neefkat

I got into both bands recently & I would say Opeth is more accessible from an intense heaviness point of view (or lack thereof) due to all the mellower passages/clean vocals but the tracks are generally longer & have more phases/stylistic changes. Also, depends which album you listen to because there's a fair bit of variation. Symbolic & even Human are more conventionally catchy to my ears, just heavier/closer to what you'd expect from DM.

I'm trying my best dammit

Opeth sounds much more appealing to be honest, I'll have to check when I'm done jamming all my friend's recs

Despite my complete lack of DM experience Symbolic was an incredible experience... actually maybe that's partly why, the surprise factor? I don't know. Either way it's awesome neefkat & definitely digestible enough for us mere mortals if this evidence is anything to go by.

True, Symbolic was my first DM album and I checked it back when I had like 200-300 ratings. Since then, DM has completely taken over my pie chart m/

My pie chart has no DM, which is actually a little weird, was expecting maybe 5% because of Symbolic & two Opeth 5s. Since I've joined Progressive metal is up to 15% (maybe that's where it went instead) & it's mostly metal, alt. rock, post-rock, experimental & electronic... already done away with indie rock completely.

Anyway, it's changing even in 6 months so we shall see what happens, hopefully DM will make an appearance eventually, embrace the darkness!

Yeah my pie chart is seriously biased towards rock at the moment but I'm hoping to get some hip-hop and more metal on there.

Folk was on there for a while until I started listening to Zeppelin and Radiohead
