Ye it is one of the weak points of this album for me, even though it has some good moments

Are they on tour with Don Broco and DGD still? It ought to be a fun show.
|

This is way off in November so I'm guessing no? Would have been vaguely up for DCD tbh, especially since Melt-Banana are doing a long UK tour in late Oct so would have been fun to chain some high energy gigs together

Seeing these dudes w Hail the Sun and DGD would have been an insane lineup. All such great bands.

This is seriously fantastic, I didn't really even like Periphery before but I just keep playing this over and over. Also this vocal performance is absolutely insane, one of the best I have heard in a while on a metal album.

As much as I think this record is great and everything, I can't help but feel Periphery is nearing a certain line of stagnation, there are fantastic cuts on this like Reptile and Satellites but then there are songs that are kinda ok to great like Sentient Glow and Follow Your Ghost (although not saying the songs are bad, they are just, ok), I would very much prefer an effort similar to Juggernaut next, I thought that record was so refreshing for them. I feel like P5 is kind of at risk of having more 'Sentient Glow like' songs if that makes any sense, where they just kinda, 'exist', and its a fine song but there's nothing much else to it. Obv I don't want a sequel to Juggernaut or anything but I think a break from another P[insert number] would do them good, maybe even a Clear EP 2, I would love that as well.

Bro sentient glow was written nearly a decade ago. They even put a damn synthwave song on this album.

You are right, I hope I am wrong, although I still feel like they could have done a little bit more with Sentient Glow to make it as strong as the other tracks, I guess a strength it has is its shorter than the other songs so it's quick and easy listen? that's the only edge I can give to it over the other cuts tbh
I guess I just kinda miss the cohesive factor that Juggernaut had so much of, but I digress, also I think the 2nd half of the album is lacking overall, besides Satellites ofc, I feel like a song just as heavy as Blood Eagle in the spot of Sentient Glow would have been a better choice
