This might be my 4th favorite Meshuggah. It's extremely hard to beat DEI, Chaosphere, and Nothing.

Definitely prefer the slower tracks on here e.g. I Am Colossus, Behind the Sun, Break Those Bones, Demiurge.

Just something about that fucking tone that rings out when Fredrik and co. decides to sloooowww it down.

For sure, that's why Love Sex Machine rules, they sort of took that sound and ran with it, just alot less mathy. They came out around the same time tho

pretty surprised this is your fav capn

this album seems to be their most popular around the newer "djent" crowd, a bunch of friends i have who love that stuff like this album the most, probably cause its more straightforward/less repetitive than much of their other stuff. i dig this album a lot but id definitely put it in the lower tier of shuggah albums

I like the singles but they're the weakest on here, though do not look down has it's moments

its a style of playing that is applied to a bunch of different genres, mostly prog metal, metalcore and deathcore

the problem is the sound these guys pioneered got hijacked and watered down really quickly. only a small handful of bands do something original with the djent sound. no one will ever compare though.
