I really like Audioslave's first two albums. Both have a few classic gems on them
This is absolutely better in any way possible for me though

Seems I’m outnumbered. All good. Always liked RATM but never been a huge fan.

Zack > Cornell
🤯🤬
Come man, you kidding me?
|

Well, are we comparing them as vocalists? I feel like that's a little unfair, since De La Rocha doesn't really sing, nor does Cornell rap. As lyricists though? I'll take hamfisted political sloganeering over bog-standard buttrock-isms any day, thanks.

Lol I'm not trying to diss Cornell, I like Soundgarden a lot and can even tolerate a few Audioslave tracks, I just think lyrics were never Chris's strong suit. Soundgarden gets most of their mileage from the emotion and complexity of the music and the power of Cornell's voice IMO.

What kompys said. Cornell is obviously the better singer, but being a better vocalist =/= being a better singer. And I'm limiting this to Cornell's tenure as Audioslave's vocalist not the Soundgarden years. He worked better with Thayill and crew cos they made weirder music and because his voice at the time was super powerful. Audioslave Cornell was simply not the same beast.

Ya let’s not compare audioslave to ratm because they are not even in the same genre. All that matters is the members brought their A game when recording. Cornell’s lyrics were a little weak but hey soundgarden was his prime not AS

First Audioslave album is fire, and Cornell is a better "vocalist".

Rocha is good at hyping the place up, but Cornell is better in every way, shape and form as a songwriter, vocalist, lyricist and singer. I mean, are you fucking kidding me? Cornell is a pioneer and Superunknown is considered to be one of the best albums of all time and Cornell’s voice is considered to be one of the best of all time.
De la Rocha? Better political activist and great at just getting a crowd hyped. And tbh? He only did it for a few years, then faded into obscurity. What the fuck has he done of note in the past decade? Not much.

An angry Larkin, that's a rare sight.
There, there, Cornell was obviously better. Not in the self-esteem department, though.

Talk about a lack of perspective. De la Rocha was every bit the pioneer that Cornell was. And besides, we're specifically discussing the merits of this album vs Audioslave. Whatever else those vocalists did or didn't do in their careers is completely irrelevant.
And joking about suicide isn't cool Eg.

De La Rocha did those 2 RTJ features, that got him a fair bit of acclaim and notice. And it's not like Cornell was at the forefront of the scene in the 2010s, he put out one Soundgarden album and one solo album, both of which were regarded as pretty mediocre.
