“Overall, neurosis is probably better than ISIS. but oceanic is as good as, if not better than anything neurosis ever did, i.e. through silver in blood or a sun that never sets”

started off well but you just didnt stick the landing man

Lol. Oceanic just holds a special place in my heart. Randomly found it at a tiny record store in Iowa city in 2005, just thought the cover was cool. bought it and loved it and went down the rabbit hole and the rest is history

Oceanic bring da feelz. Everytime my ears grace towards the Carry, my emotional apparatus gets overloaded with all the weight of a mighty waves.

Well like I said, if there is an objective level of quality, neurosis is probably "better". More influential, more quality material etc. I just can't bring myself to value much of anything over the album the effectively pushed me away from radio rock (oceanic)

yeah I was really looking forward to catching these guys with tool in 2006 but I think for some reason they had to cancel a leg of that tour for some reason.

But I did see them in 2007 in some tiny hole in the wall in IC. Small, sweaty, dark, loud, they started their set with so did we, just crushed the crowd. Best concert I've ever been to

It was great. I love small venues

live shows have lost a lot of their appeal for me and im not sure why. maybe it just happens as one gets older. aside from a few bands, i havent had much of a desire to go to shows for awhile now.

Didn't neurosis do a show w/ converge and amenra or something in Chicago a couple years ago?

And yeah, I admittedly don't have a huge desire to go to shows anymore, but there are a few bands I'd love to see but just never have the $

yeah i went to chicago to see that one and then detroit the next night but i was planning on visiting a buddy in michigan that summer anyway and it just so happened neurosis was touring the midwest at the time

but yeah neurosis is one of the few bands (along with amenra and yob) that i’ll always go out of my way to see

Nice

I remember hearing about that neurosis tour on sput and getting super hyped to go to the Chicago show but fucking car problems came up and basically had to waste all my money on fixing my car instead of tix, rip

I couldn’t have been more crazy about Isis than during that Tool tour when they had just released In the Absence of Truth. I basically missed their set cause a bunch of us got drunk in the parking lot before the show and all ran off in opposite directions. Spent almost the entire Isis set trying to locate each other across a giant mud puddle.

Imagine walking into an Isis gig right when they start playing Deconstructing Towers. You guys are lucky tho, when I got into this band they were already disbanded, wonder if they ever came to Portugal

Yeah I got to see these guys open for Tool. Had no idea who they were at the time, but I walked out a fan.

^Lucky. I never saw them live and CoL doesn't really fill the void Isis left for me. These dudes are by far my favorite post-metal alongside the Souls at Zero-TSIB era Neurosis.

Just started listening to the remaster. It's bizarre hearing an album I know so well with different production that's not a markedly worse remaster. Bit sad the opening harsh vocals were so buried, but these guitars are ticklin me somethin fierce
