Such a great riff agreed. Plus that quiet section just before it, so good.

While that riff is amazing, it still loses to that riff in serenity painted death.

They've got so many goat riffs. Those final BWP ones. All of MAYH. Many Morningrise and Orchid riffs. GR. The list goes on.

To me, still life will always be one of the greatest guitar albums ever. Just original riff after original riff. It’s like a guitar symphony

Masters Apprentices, By the Pain and Fair Judgement have some of Opeth’s best clean segments ever.

Yeah I did Pika! Does that surprise you?
This sneakily contains some of their finest moments in both their heavy and clean styles. It's a gorgeous album.

Agreed Pleb, especially about Judgement. One of their best tracks.

New Opeth releases have made us realize how amazing this is.

I liked it a lot when I got into them (during the release of GR), grew off of me a little over the years and then suddenly came back on top.
It's a very inaccessible album, mainly due to its production I think. Super dry and cold. Even those beautiful passages in the t/t can't completely shake off that feeling.

New one might be better than this tbh.

Damnation is better though

True, but Damnation is better than most things.

I don't enjoy Damnation as an album anymore like I used to. It's been slipping down the ranks for some years.

Equally good?
Imagine you got stranded on a desert island and you got Cauda on your solar-powered player instead of Deliverance.
Boy that would suck.

Haha as desert island jams go, Opeth are either gonna fall into the Scare Away Local Fauna or Bleak Reminiscence camps

“Imagine you got stranded on a desert island and you got Cauda on your solar-powered player instead of Deliverance.”
I’d be disappointed if I got ANY Opeth album
