imo he's the best right after Bob Dylan and Leonard Cohen. can't think of anyone that better fits that #3 spot

Bob Dylan is objectively the best lyricist

Not familiar enough with Cohen to place him

Matt's lyrics are so down to earth and relatable and yet they retain a poetic quality, one of the best for sure.

Ok that's what I thought

"Boney have you heard Cohen's Songs of Love and Hate?"

Aside from the odd song here an there I've heard not Cohen. I am aware that this is a shame.

she's great too. i could prolly get her into my top 10 maybe

if you dig lyrics i can pretty much guarantee you will love that album. he's almost like a darker and even more scathing Dylan tbh

"But I took my fishing pole, fearing your fever

Down to the swimming hole, where there grows a bitter herb

That blooms but one day a year, by the riverside

I’d bring it here

Apply it gently

To the love you’ve lent me"

I adore her
