Sorry, Jamie. I can't stand this record or the Wall (but for slightly different reason).
Pink Floyd has always been a strange case for me as I really enjoy the stuff I enjoy and loathe what I don't.

| |
Fair enough. I'm not the biggest fan of The Wall either (although it does have some great songs) but I love this.

If it weren't for the detail about this album that kills it for me (his singing), it would be higher ranked than The Wall. The theatricality and hyperbole on this record doesn't bother me as much as it does on the Wall.

I've never been a big fan of Waters' voice but there's so much emotion in this album that I think his incredibly emotional vocal delivery is well suited to it.

Love Floyd but this album didnt do much for me tbh

That's because it's closer to a Roger Waters' solo record than a proper Floyd album

ok sure but that has nothing to do with the quality of the album

I wholeheartedly disagree

the wall was basically the same feelings roger has on this, but told thru a pretty convoluted fictional story
yeah this is theatrical and hyperbolic and crazy and all that cuz roger just lets loose about how he really felt about all that stuff, i.e. war, how veterans were treated, the death of his father, power struggles and colonialism etc. it's dramatic and all that, call it what you want, but it's easily one of the most powerful, real and haunting albums I've ever heard
