I certainly hate liking this album, but I do.

Well I knew "Welcome to The Black Parade" sounded too Queen-esque, and I wasn't wrong. Good times. It's good to know my ear isn't as fucked as I thought it was.
Otherwise, I'd liek to give the whole album a listen.

I just picked this up, and I so far I enjoy it. It's actually exactly what I was expected after hearing the lead single. Very nice review. We'll see what happens with this in a couple weeks.

I love both the previous albums. the first one is so... real and authentic. the second one's so tight and melodic. but this album is like a totally different band. it puts the previous efforts in the shadows for a moment. it's such a great album. a really, really good album. who cares if they've sold out (twice)? it's a freakin' awesome album.
and a quite adequate review to my taste.
but please don't call'em "punk-pop". that's the worst term in history. they're a rock'n roll band. they haven't even been close to touching "punk" since the release of their sophomore album Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge. this is a (popular) rock album. and a damn fine one as well.

This is defenitely some sort of punk.
But you gotta remember though that genres are just labels. They don't really matter. Plus one album/band may reflect on many different genres of music

I hate to say it, but this CD's not terrible. Mama and Teenagers aren't half bad. I mean there's still a shitload of cliche MCR emo/pop punk bullshit, but when they get away from that, it's actually enjoyable.

I absolutely loathe Mama. Teenagers is a fun listen tho. The Lead single stands as the best track, in my opinion. I find the chorus to be just so damn uplifting. This Message Edited On 01.03.07

No way, the lead single is probably the worst track. Either that, or Teenagers. I haven't listened to this in a while though, so maybe my opinion has changed.

I find that "Welcome..." has the most playability. Sleep gives it a hell of a run tho. Teenagers is fun, but still borders on annoying.

Yeah, Sleep rules pretty hard. I agree with you on Teenagers as well.

It's a decent enough album for sure. The things I'd been reading had me thinking it was more "Queen"ish, but I'm glad they were basically false.
And this is definitely pop punk. And there's nothing wrong with that.
Liza Minnelli's short appearance is hilarious too. This Message Edited On 01.03.07

My friend saw them live about a year back and said Disenchanted was way better back then.
And this is definitely pop punk. The band is as a whole, but this CD definitely leans towards rock.

Yeah, but it's still rooted in pop-punk.

MCR emo/pop punk
Not emo. How many essays on the subject must I write before it sinks in?

Steerpike, you don't have to tell me what emo is, but when you combine it with pop punk, most people think of this and TBS and Dashboard Confessional and things like that. While from real emo, I've only heard CTTS, but I get that MCR's not emo.
