I agree with FadeToBlack. Just give it some time and see if it grows on you. And not all black metal vocalists are as high-pitched as Ihsahn is.

Well I really love his vocals. I could definitely see how someone could get annoyed by them though. I actually prefer black metal vocals to be more high-pitched.

Well Mayhem definitely isn't the band you want to listen to if you want better vocals. Most people around here think that Mayhem's vocalists are pretty terrible. I don't really mind their vocals, but they're not the greatest.

If you want some melodic black metal like this with vocals that aren't as high pitched I would say try out some Dissection, Old Man's Child, Graveworm, or Rotting Christ. You might like some of that.

you might want to try starting out on some blackened thrash metal, like Destroyer 666 or Absu (still, don't expect to like the vocals)
