When I saw them play Hellfest, the bass drums were making my chest vibrate.

This was an open air festival to boot too.

The bookends on this go hard. I like Soul Burn & Suffer In Truth as well.

They've definitely got 'a sound' though, well on this & Chaosphere they do, unless you've heard their albums a million times & can pick out all the nuances I guess... does their later stuff have a similar vibe, or not really?

Not sure about vibe exactly but I think this album is slightly overrated, they have like 5 other albums that are easy 5s while this is 4.5 at best.

I didn't think this was better than Chaosphere although that might be because I've drilled that one into my brain over a period of time. This is like a piece of cake in comparison after that initiation.

I agree with that totally. Not sure what you've listened to but I really recommend Koloss. Not a popular opinion, but it's that good. Also Catch 33 is their best album by a long shot. You haven't Shugged till you've jammed that whole album in a pitch-black room preferably on mushrooms. It's a surprisingly psychedelic album.

I haven't heard anything else, just this & Chaos. It might make sense to do it chronologically I guess but thanks for the tip.

What sort of mushrooms do you recommend? I could munch on a few Portobellos if you think that might help.

Chaos was the album that FINALLY made the Shugg click for me after years of trying to get into them. I'll never forget that moment... It was Corridor Of Chameleons that actually did it.

I recommend shiitakes. If you munch on them thoroughly they will absorb the incessant drooling induced by the sweet sweet goodness that is Catch 33.
