Aight after several listens now I've decided this is fantastic lol. Ik it's a bit of a cop-out but the production really does shine way better on a good stereo/headphones... I found a lot of clarity in it there, might also just be getting used to the sound and I don't blame anyone for being turned off by it
Regardless, this certainly has a "poppier" approach but I think it makes for some really rich music. ILII takes the cake for being a more despondent and "broken" experience, cathartic in its own right, but man this one has the fuckin tunes. I've had a different song stuck in my head every day. Still pretty crushing and atmospheric to boot

never been a fan of that take bc plenty of bad albums come out after long gaps and vice versa, like it doesn't seem to have much bearing one way or the other. Sometimes albums just take a while, and ofc theres covid setting back many bands by a couple years in their cycle. but mayb I'm just more inclined to disagree bc I actually think this was worth the wait lol

Like I said, I too do criticize albums, yes, obviously. I criticized THIS album ffs. But neither I, nor anyone else that I can think of spam multiple albums' threads to no end, even years after they've been released, effectively killing all sane discussion. I don't like seeing that in any thread, no matter my enjoyment of whatever it is. I don't want that 4chan or 8chan shit anywhere for that matter. What's worse, it either got even more excessive, or worked in the way I explained, in that it killed all other discussion with nothing left but shitposting to see, and/or drove people away from this site, further minimizing any real discussions to be had.
If that's what you want, there are sites for that. But this is not one of them. That's my point.

I might like Fortress Down more than anything on let it in. Not really sure why they have that effect on his voice there but it doesn't decrease my enjoyment of the track.
