"For once I actually believe the remaster of OoS surpasses the original, so perhaps that might help give you a semi-hard there Demon"

Thanks but I've been listening to the remaster.

Drones was (from memory) their 'least terrible' (but still quite bad) album since BH&R but part of my ire directed towards The Resistance was the fact it commenced their downfall (so I may have been slightly harsh in my assessment for that reason).

Drones isn't bad at all. In fact, I actually like it a fair amount. Definitely better than Will lol.

"I don't trust you two with Muse haha"

I don't even blame you considering some of the stuff I enjoy from this band 😂

@Hawks ayyy nice one. Hoped you'd dig it. After all, "Reapers" namechecks you and the title track ends with 'ah, men' ;D

Drones has some of their best work but also a lot of filler IMO. Still enjoy it a lot, flaws and all.

>Muse and Modest Mouse dropped their best albums in ages

>new Interpol and Weezer singles sound genuinely great

>new albums by The Strokes and Charli XCX are looking like huge disappointments

>new albums by Car Seat Headrest and Jpegmafia are really bad

Man what a year

Drones is sooo much better than WOTP. Having Reapers alone qualifies it.

I will agree the drill sergeant shit is cringey but I still like that song regardless.

Not to mention the surprise Neurosis drop and 2 Converge albums in one year

Eh I don’t think the Peggy album is bad at all but it’s for sure his weakest probably ever. Idk, his flow is way too similar throughout. I know rapping has never exactly been the strongest thing about him but it’s truly wild that he has the same fucking flow for so much of the record meanwhile the production is just buck ass wild.

Plenty of other people have pointed it out but it should’ve just been Scaring the Hoes Part 2, Danny would’ve went the fuck off over some of those beats

and don’t forget Olivia Rodrigo dropping probably the best pop album of the year. I’m not super into that kinda shit normally but it’s seriously just amazing

Out of interest, what albums does everyone think have been so great this year? For me, it's been the weakest year I can ever remember. I'd only rate the Boards of Canada album any higher than 4.

Not a metal fan, but what have I missed that I really need to check?

I've not been paying attention as much as I perhaps could, but that's because when I do, I'm usually disappointed (so agreed, generally).

Boards is my clearcut standout. otay:onii's new one is very good. I enjoyed the Neurosis album even if it's like their 8th best release or sumthin. Gutvoid was good for dm. The Field if we're including EPs.

Dunno if I should be digging deeper or continuing to half-ass it in favour of checking out older stuff, probably the latter tbh

The Field is my other 4.5 but didn't include it as just an EP (even if it's long enough for a proper album).

Evanescence and Madonna's newest albums were both really well received by comparison to their last few records. Latest BMTH is also sounding like their best material in a decade, too.

This is about the same as everything else they’ve ever done, it’s okay at best and downright awful at worst

It sounds nice a few songs in but it's also probably not going to make me a Muse convert. Goes down quite smoothly though and there are some super fun noodly riffs.
