deloused is still the best... though this might be in the runnings with frances the mute for me. i learnt to play asilos magdalena today and realized how bad ass this album actually is. especially from the first 20 seconds of meccamputecture

WHen I think of all of their albums song by song, strangely enough, I think Amp and Bedlam are the best. When I think of their best ALBUMS, it's clearly Frances and De-Loused, with Frances being their masterwork. Imo.

^took the words out of my fingers
i can rarely get through amp/bedlam without skipping through certain parts. they're both a heck of a lot more tedious than deloused/frances.

it's probably just one of them for the fans/for the masses dichotomies

Amp is just an album you've gotta chill out too. Dedicate a drinking or smoke session to it and you won't regret it.

I love this album, 3rd favorite from TMV. Bedlam I've only heard once and it sounded like this on speed. So fast, groovy, but too confusing. I'd say it would grow on me.

Aside from El Ciervo Vulnerado this album is great. That song just does nothing for me at all.

I agree totally but the rest of the tracks are quite awesome. This album has alot of rock out moments, they're the best. The best micro section of this album is definitely that little bass riff that comes out at around 6:13 which is followed up by the mad solo on Viscera Eyes, so so good.

Listened to this today; still awesome. To me, all TMV records except for Bedlam are solid 4.5s or better. Frances is currently my favorite (by a fairly considerable margin) but the other 3 are constantly switching around in my rankings.

the Day of the Baphomets pots and pans solo = still so amazing.

Meccamputechture's outro is one of my favorite moments on this, so good.

I don't know if I'd go up to a 4.5 with this but I might it depends. I'm slowly growing into being a TMV fanboy and if I do this would probably be a 4.5 Frances is definitely their best. Octahedron and Bedlam are the only ones that aren't oustanding. Bedlam has potential to grow on me but Octahedron is more of a mixed bag album, has some amazing stuff and some other not so amazing stuff.

I love Octa. Bedlam on the other hand... i mean, it's great and all. To me it's like a strong 3.5/light 4. TMV have always been a very maximal band but i think they crossed the line on a few tracks on that album.

Also, the longest tracks on Bedlam don't even reach the 10 minute mark, and yet, some of them drag. On other albums they've written songs well over 10 minutes long that don't have this problem at all.

You nailed it man, strong 3.5 light 4 is about right. I think it's just SO MUCH STUFF jammed into one album that's already over an hour long that makes it confusing to listen to. Each song on Bedlam sounds like 4 songs in 1 or is that just me. I think it's slowly growing on me though. Ilyena and Ouroboros are the standout tracks in that album.

Yeah definitely. And Ilyena is easily one of the best tracks on that album.

While none of their albums have ever been easy to listen to from beginning-to-end (save for maybe Octa), Bedlam is the only one that really does feel like a chore. It has a lot of great moments, even on the weaker tracks, but i just never feel like listening to it straight through.

Oh, and even to this day, i still have no earthly idea what the hell Askepios is supposed to be.

I'm totally with you on that one, definitely a bit of a chore but the good tracks on it are really fuckin good. This on the other hand is long but just pure awesome except for maybe the last track.
