I miss when it used to be a street team putting up flyers everywhere. Now it’s a bunch of bots manipulating social media.

Yes, lots of artists engaging industry practices that are perhaps dubious. Artists having 17-20+ tracks is one such trend. People like to autoplay albums, and artists get paid per track (not by duration), so having many (slightly shorter) tracks nets them more payout from streaming services.

Shit is a psyop. band is like Lynyrd Skynyrd with none of the actual talent and ability to make compelling songs. And Skynyrd aren't even that good

Never beating the plant allegations

To be fair, as someone who saw them before even 3D Country came out, they were pretty hyped while promoting that album even at a local level
It's too bad I find them meh
|

They were kind of bad when I saw them open for King Gizzard and I thought 3D Country was decent

Getting Shit

I mean I think they’re a very mediocre band.
If they have the impact the recent reviews and hype suggested then why aren’t their live shows reflecting that.
|
| |
Yea I do kind of agree this band specifically getting shit on for using internet marketing/promo tricks is kind of dumb. Bands/artists in every genre are playing that game in many ways. These guys are just on a bigger level and have more resources so they get the brunt of it

I think people do like them, but I'm not sure who they are since I never seem to meet people in the wild who are really into Geese. That said their October back-to-back shows at one of Seattle's biggest venues are already sold out, so who knows.

The reality is that they’re doing what everyone is doing now.
My Instagram now is just filled with Sabrina Carpenter, Tate McRae, Dua Lipa, Billie Eillish, etc. videos and content that’s clearly posted as “organic” interest but is clearly marketing on their behalf.
I think Sabrina’s Carpenters team has been very open about them flooding Instagram and TikTok with her content to generate perpetual buzz, all in the guise of regular people sharing content.

Same thing happened to me after watching Pinkpantheress and Oklou on the Coachella stream. All my social media won't stop promoting their random content now for weeks after. I think its more the labels than the artists themselves doing the algo tricks

I would plow Sabrina Carpenter into oblivion.
