"I just love Altered State front to back because of the rose-tinted-goggles of when it came out and what it personally meant to me for music when I basked in its glory for hours per day, every day, for months."

this is always a perfectly acceptable reason to rank anything at the top and is also probably why this is my favorite record of theirs. the feeling of being completely blindsided by this has been exhilarating

"Periphery will always make me giggle in embarrassment and cringe because Periphery Pete (what my brother called Spencer once) is so violently not-my-jam"

Aight I'm stealing Periphery Pete, that's fuckin hilarious

imo Februus, Masstaden, and this are now the holy trinity of djent. I'll check out Means End too.

Here's the "Viggo broke his toe kicking that helmet while filming / Frankenstein is the name of the SCIENTIST / Buscemi was a volunteer firefighter during 9/11" of Means' End -- their vocalist quit music to become an AI scientist/researcher for Microsoft. It's the only reason I'm not gutted by them not making a second album. Cool reason to quit a band lol.

LMAO Bloc. We also went to see The Contortionist (when they were an active band...) and Tesseract, because while he doesn't like metal, he likes elements of Februus specifically/The Contortionist's 'Language'.

Contortionist was after Skyharbor, but before Tesseract. After Tesseract, he started referring to them as the "Lesser acT", and now that's cemented in my head as the right pronunciation.

This tour will always be engraved in my mind because a) the billing was solid and b) my buddy and I got fifteen sheets to the wind before it and it was glorious.

Yeah what a fun show! I'm so bummed we got in just as Skyharbor played their last note, so I'm forever cranky that I technically never got to see them live. Obviously with Tesseract playing this would have meant Dan was still singing with them, which would have been incredible to see.

Means End were painfully average Johnny-come-latelys without a single original idea

I can't remember if ERRA opened on this leg. If anything the concert was

Skyharbor

ERRA

The Contortionist

TesseracT

Which is absolutely stacked regardless. Honestly I've seen a lot of great line-ups in Denver.
