Shame they never released that third Load album (ThreeLoad), the world needs to see the shit and vomit cover. And don’t even get me started on the FOURTH Load album cover art

Horrific mixing.
Limp, practically nonexistent songwriting.
Dogshit soloing from Kirk.
Like maybe three vocal melodies of note.
What's the point? Their creative process at this point is basically assembling disjointed generic riffs into a 7-minute song while Hetfield yodels over them.

Too soon to rate it, but after one listen I'm not sure if I wanna listen to that bloated mess again. The mix is awful, especially the drums sound lifeless and bland. The guitars are just chugging along, no dynamics, no clean passages, just riff after riff after riff. Kirk's solos are uninspired, Lars plays like a Lars AI. At least Rob does a decent job. James' vocals are ok, but his lyrics are not. Not a single memorable line, he basically just rambles incoherently in the verses before he repeats a single phrase over and over in most choruses.
It's just a big meh.

With all of the money, resources and experience I don’t see how this band can’t manage to put out one great album over the past several decades. Do they use the same shitty producer every time or what?

I need to listen to this (only listened to the singles) but holy god I'm not looking forward to it just because of the horrible production. I have no idea how they made it worse than Death Magnetic.

@Smok: Yeah, but that list probably should have included James and Lars, since they co-produced it. And let's be honest... given their track record with the production of previous Metallica albums, they're probably the main culprits here as well

It’s Metallica, the most overrated and over discussed band in history. Par for the course.

You rate it after you've given it multiple spins and soaked it in instead of just rushing a rating out that your probably just going to change later anyway lol. This is better than alot of you are giving it credit for tho easily on par with the last album. It's just more of the same is all
