Yea I just don't think any modern core will be for you gyro, especially of this variety

@tyman I kind of hate when Erra does it now, but this band is pulling it off pretty well

Too busy listening to blessthefall’s witness right now, but going to give this guy another spin right after. Had to get my head right first.

"I'm not gonna lie, the half-scream/half-clean vocals kind of make me hard"

Well you're in luck because every single metalcore band uses them now

I do love the sound of them, but not every song all the time. A song like Catch Myself Catching Myself by Underoath is pretty much a (imo) perfect utilization of pitched screaming.

Album is really, really good. They (again) managed to do a huge step forward. The guitars slap, the drums hit hard, the vocals are nerve-cutting. The production is bad ass as a whole.

But band and album are too overhyped!!! It’s just people getting crazy hearing a few slapping chugs and drums and say it’s the best album of the decade before calming down. It’s still just chugging and slapping (which is done really well here!) with a piece of ambient bits. However, it’s a promising output. If they manage their balance even more they could be able to create a really blissful record in this genre.

^^^ I agree for the most part. It's solid but nothing crazy

If it wasn't for Whitechapel going insane and making their best album, the last Devil Sold His Soul would've taken AOTY for me two years ago. This has me feeling the same way I felt with that album. If nobody goes insane like that (or My Chem doesn't drop some heat) this has a high chance at sticking at the top.

More screams like Immolation would make a lot of these songs much more intense at times and be better for it imo

Yeah true, but I don't want them to go too heavy and drop all the beautiful stuff they do here

Yeah if I wanted to listen to something like that, I’d listen to sentinels cause they do that sort of sound better. I don’t think immolation works here at all

I love that one. From the first second, the urgency is escalated to 11. I want them to do more of that

immolation is everything wrong with this record's brvtality pandering and a big part of what's holding it back
