This album is really damn gud; kinda meh on 2-3 songs but otherwise I'm happy. Production is a lot better than Greyview as well thank christ and the more melodic direction suits me grand.
Also peeps stating that Reverie/Immolation is too much of a contrast are weak, hard contrast or go home.
Looks like I have to try Stillworld now.

@Art I 1’d this before it dropped lol. It’s not legitimate
Agree with everything Bubs and Outliers said. Those things also add to my displeasure here
@Venin honestly in this particular instance I’m not even dogging your taste lol I can see how someone would enjoy this. I’m more shocked by the general consensus by everyone that this is somehow 4+ material. I can see someone who likes this more than me giving it a 3.5 easy

To be more clear this isn’t inherently bad to me as much as it’s just terribly boring and this band is capable of much better creative songwriting

“I can see someone who likes this more than me giving it a 3.5 easy”
Agreed. We’ve had a lot of fun here today, but jokes aside, shit either clicks or it don’t. And while we all know that, it’s not much fun for that to be every /thread

I'd love to hear more Ghost Atlas, but i feel like the only thing that could beat this for me is a new MCR album that follows in the footsteps of The Foundations of Decay

I liked that song where the instruments and vocals get quiet and then the guitar goes bwahmmm bwahmbwahm

Dawg, if mcr dropped news of a new album, I’d shit my 👖

False Meridian feels like it would've been a better closer, also the fact that they dropped the closer as a single doesn't help either

False Meridian as the closer woulda felt mad weird it didn't feel like a closer-type song. Elysium fits perfectly in that spot.

Whatchu mean, that last minute and a half in False Meridian coupled with the last 30 seconds of ambience feels like a better closer compared to Elysium's abrupt short breakdown, and then it just ends, also the buildup to the breakdown is much better on False Meridian

I guess both could work but Elysium's grandiose, emotional feel just fits more as an end for me on albums like this.

I'm gonna 5 it anyways but I prefer their older stuff with atmosphere that actually gave the instruments room to breathe not this in your face overdose of djent.
Stillworld slaps as a strictly instrumental album. This would fall apart hard without Marcus.

Yeah I honestly prefer Stillworld as an instrumental. Vocals kinda get in the way on there at times.

Agreed, both can work, I just prefer the longer, more drawn out outro of Meridian

true and tbf AAL kinda feels like techy wank for the sake of techy wank. Math rock type stuff is cool but if it lacks atmosphere and emotion it feels weak to me.
