very good point tbh. i def remember crashing out over wildfire and especially atropos when they dropped but now they're both prob in my top 15 periphery tracks three years later

99% of Spencer driven songs are a huge fail for me and this felt like one. Mr. God is not offensive at all just bland

i def noticed spencer was singing quite a bit lower than he usually does on the chorus. hoping that's an artistic choice and not some kind of vocal problem cause he was locked the fuck in during the p5 touring cycle
apparently the band hosted a listening party last night in which they proclaimed they did a lot of stuff very purposely different this time around. said they could make a p4/p5 style album in their sleep at this point and it was time for a change in approach.

Everyone Dies Alone doesn't feel enough like a departure to me sadly, hoping for something more interesting in the full album

yeah I mean I'm not crazy about either tracks but who knows maybe there's just some grand hook that'll click down the line or they make better sense in the context of the album when it releases.
fuckin HATED Jug when it came out because it felt so boring compared to P2 and now give me one (1) domestic beer and I'll start belting Alpha or fuckin Heavy Heart

double comment but I actually think Matt drives the new song most of the time, his jazzier side is really showing up more with the fills and slick little double snares. production definitely leaves something to be desired but with over-the-ears and pushing the gain/volume it sounds better. feels like they really want you to crank this new album.

both tracks are pretty straight forward, which is a change for periphery. no major weirdness or left turns. i dont hate the approach but feels a number of other bands could have made these songs

hard disagree, I feel like with their approach these two songs only Periphery could pull off to sound even remotely good and every member is pulling their own weight so to speak

If I'm being honest I hardly ever listen to P1 and I'm not completely crazy over P2 either. I feel like they've outdone themselves since in particular with P4 and AO. I don't even mind P3 any more, it has some seriously good tracks on despite being their most inconsistent; nice and easy to listen to.

Mr God was way better than this second one.

Really like the instrumentals in the new track but that chorus just doesn't hit.
I understand not wanting to pitch correct the vocals too much but these just sound off, and the melody itself isn't anything to write home about either.

"Really like the instrumentals in the new track but that chorus just doesn't hit."
i've grown to kinda have the opposite opinion haha. really like the chorus but everything that surrounds it doesn't do much for me

P1 is their best material with P2 close behind. The 2nd single is better than the boring chug fest Mr God. Here’s to hoping the rest of the album is better, the bar is already set low.

Don't get your hopes up for the new album. The heavy stuff is so bland and I think you guys will HATE the softer parts. The exciting riffs and melodies are basically nonexistent. The songwriting has fallen off a cliff and anything good on here, they have done better in the past. Everyone Dies Alone is clearly one of the best tracks on the album if that tells you anything. I do like Heaven on High.

Yeah after hearing that Misha interview, it makes sense. They got rid of all the cool riffs/song parts on purpose just to stay boring for Matt’s depression theme for the album.
