I think that article linked earlier in the thread kind of laid it all out. The pandemic really fucked over most bands since they have to tour to continue their money flow and not being able to probably gave an anxiety ridden reality to them, that one thing can bring down everything they worked for and essentially leave them worthless to a society outside the music they can make. This is all they have and they're gonna want to grow their fanbase to as big as they possibly can for a comfortable safety net. While the music is less risk averse it is working out for them, just not if you want something more niche which is ultimately what their first two albums are to a lot of more casual listeners.

A lot of bands did digital live concerts through the pandemic and I dont get why Parkway didnt, they would have had the resources to pull it off. They also didnt even do any tours in Aus when they could have done even some small shows here and there. You could make the arguement that Parkway Drive (after BMTH) have become the peak of mainstream metalcore. Well whatever they want to do its not going to stop the fanbase they have made in Europe arena festival scene so if this is the kind of music they are happy and enjoy making then all the power to them.

Interesting that the worse they get the more their label promotes them. Guess they know what sells.
Lol bloc, what song did you pull that comment from?

Either that or they are really trying to push the sales hard

Bloc had to have pulled that from YouTube, there's no way it's not

Just listened to Killing With A Smile. Those last 5 tracks fair dinkum. I'm happy for their financial success, they're all nice blokes but it's disappointing to think what other directions they could have taken as they matured and what kind of band they could have been. It's hard to believe a band with such capability has fallen to such a low as this.

I still think this is just a case of "fuck it we dont want to do this anymore really but we havent done much outside of this, this sound sells stadiums so itll do"

Seems like they slapped it together really quick, especially if you've been following their tour cycles/cancellations.

Complete eye opener. You kind of forget these guys have been living in each other’s pockets for 20 years. There’s gonna be dramas. I saw them when they were playing halls and now they’re huge. The other thing to know is the band were not in a good place when they made this. Some real personal stuff in this show, they really opened up

What a great insight into the band and all on national tv. Very interesting. Certainly explains where they are at musically. While I haven’t really been to interested since Horizons I’ve never begrudged them becoming successful. To see people blaming them for Trevor’s death was a disgrace imo and I think this show will put the reality of the situation into perspective for a lot of people. A hard watch at times but worthwhile. From a musical perspective I think we can clearly say there is no metalcore element coming back.

Agree with everything you said pengui. Musically they're nu-metal now but they'll always play their old metalcore at shows
