So far I'd go with UIG, Father Time, Purple Hearts, Mother, and Savior. We Cry Together has surprisingly grown on me quite a bit too, especially when played in context with the rest of the album
I might have to 4 this eventually. It's been growing on me more and more

right now it's in my top 5 but that may yet change
but I don't feel like this album is about individual songs, it's more about the vibe of the whole thing

Since GKMC (which I loved on first listen), every Kendrick album has fallen short of expectations on first listen for me, and this was no different. I didn't hate it, but probably would have put it at a 3/5. But I knew from past experience that I needed to give it the benefit of repeat listens and I'm glad I did, absolutely love this album. Definitely stronger than DAMN overall, the only songs I skip are Rich (interlude) and Crown. Purple Hearts isn't the greatest either but I like the Ghost face verse so I can get through it. I'd say N95, Father Time, Count Me Out, Savior and Mother I Sober are my favourites on this.

My brother was a big Kendrick fan before his death last year, I feel like he would've got a lot of enjoyment out this this record. I'm not a huge hip-hop guy but for the rest of my life when the greats of the genre drop albums I'll be listening to them for him.

Been thinking about this a while, my ranking below in response to Colton, who had Rich Spirit and Purple Hearts criminally low. Ranks do not include interludes.
16. Silent Hill
15. Die Hard
14. N95
13. Crown
12. Count Me Out
11. We Cry Together
10. Mirror
9. Auntie Diaries
8. Worldwide Steppers
7. Rich Spirit
6. Mother I Sober
5. Savior
4. Mr Morale
3. Purple Hearts
2. United in Grief
1. Father Time

Purple Hearts might be a top 5 song if you ignored the way he says “yeah baby” which makes it a bottom 5 song

Silent Hill hook is SO bad but everything else about the song is great
|
| |
Silent Hill hook is the funniest shit to ever come out of Kendrick’s mouth and literally 90% of the appeal of the dude is him making weird voices and sounds so if you don’t appreciate that idk why you even listen to him

I know KDot's done weird voices on other albums, but in the context of this one, it makes me think of cognitive defusion -- a therapy technique whereby you distance yourself from your worst negative thoughts through various means, one of which is saying those thoughts out loud in a funny voice.

Absolutely adore the aggression in Worldwide Steppers.

Not to play the devils advocate to my own point but fuck the cry voice tho and also the way he says yeah baby for real 😂😂

I think there are more than 5 songs worse than N95 and Purple Hearts is great, but Pots' last few comments are on point.

It’s not the vocals for me it’s the generic as hell trap beat on the song, and I wasn’t a fan of Kodak on that track at all.
