Idk, I think progressive is a valid genre term. DWEF write long songs that go though changes and so it's progressive in the sense that the songs progress from where they started.
Very little music is truly groundbreaking, new or whatever. It's often through technological progress and that doesn't happen very often. I think bands with the tag 'experimental' might be more progressive in this sense.
When I think of 'proggy music' I think of certain sounds people tend to find annoying. And DWEF don't really do these things

I was under the impression that progressive means it’s pushing the boundaries of the genre and not just has songs that progress. Either way you could make an argument that these guys do enough weird out of genre stuff to be considered progressive in some way

I mean, that's a legit way to look at it. I can think of at least 3 ways to understand the term 'progressive' tbh

Didn't dig this quite as much as the new one, but it's still great. Clean vox sounded pretty rough in a few places.

Check Finisterre. Their magnum opus and a perfect album imo

The debut is their magnum opus, but yeah, this and Finisterre are both super close. Whole discog slays.
