i used to always imagine being able to use those lines IRL lol
for some reason painting myself as a tragic figure was really cathartic

I know the feeling actually, Adkins sounds like he's gone through some tragic shit but god I wish I could speak like he writes

yeah adkins is amazing at articulating really simple sentiments really precisely and poignantly
like jesus if kill doesn't capture heartbreak/unrequited feelings perfectly i don't know what does

He's a fucking genius but some of the lyrics on Damage made me worry that he's losing his touch at that, hopefully it's a temporary thing
Invented (the song mainly but also album) has some of my favourite lines ever

i didn't really pay attention to damage
he was really good with young adult lines, stuff you relate to from 16-25 or so, but he's getting up there in age so it's no surprise if he's losing touch with at least those feelings
what are some good lines from invented ?

Damage had some decent cuts lyrically (You Were Good especially) but then you had lines like "Please say no, please say no and I'll go I'll go I'll go" which were eugh
Invented is my favourite album of all time (think I mentioned that before) so it's hard for me to pick particular lines but
"So I walked till I just couldn't, and too late I understood/It was always half invented, but the other half was good"
"I can't compete with the clear eyes of strangers/I'm more and more replaced by my friends each night"
"Any dick can roll up in a suit, but only I would know what really moves you"
for example

I love the lyrics to The World You Love, Drugs or Me, and 23
"You'll sit alone forever if you wait for the right time, what are you hoping for. I'm here and now I'm ready holding on tight, don't give away the end, the one thing that stays mine."

and i was needlessly provokative about the pop punk thing. i just dont see why it comes up in every jimmy thread when they only even remotely pop punk song theyve done since 1996 is howd you have me. anyways i was being facetious with the coldplay comment.
