Coloratura isn't even that great, Infinity is the best thing here

coloratura is boring but it's the best here by default

This album is genuinely harmless, but it does absolutely nothing for me. There's glimmers of potential though, somewhere... Like they are trying... Within Infinity and Coloratura mainly, but you have to get through the first 30 minutes of nothingness to reach it.
That being said, Higher Power is a guilty pleasure of mine...

A buddy made me listen through this the other day, and it's just as horrible as I remembered it. It is just so uninspired, I can't understand what happened since Everyday Life. Even though that album is really inconsistent, there is at least some kind of ambition there and big highlights that are just not present here at all

Finally gave this a listen for the first time and it's probably their worst to date. Everyday Life wasn't great or anything but it had some good songs and at least signified a desire to evolve a bit. So much for that!

Reminder that Biutyful is a song that exists

only learned recently that these clowns got sued for plagiarism because their collective creative bankruptcy had resulted in them ripping off satriani in the most unimaginative way possible to create the trainwreck that is viva la vida title track

Pre sure satriani lost that lawsuit but yea it happened

They played Biutyful as their encore when I saw them. Perfect time to bee line it back to the train before the crowds do.

satriani didn't lose the lawsuit, coldplay paid him so he'd leave them alone

They also ripped off Jon Hopkins on Viva la Vida and probably Mylo Xyloto and elsewhere, tho I think they collaborated or something and he was fine with it.

I actually meant Life in Technicolor and thought Jon Hopkins wasn’t credited as a writer or anything, but looking on Wikipedia he is, so that’s good at least.

Piece of shit. So is Everyday Life, Ghost Stories, A Head Full of Dreams (this one is EXTREMELY fucking bad, irredeemable). I agree with the review, they’ve become the most bland, boring, bullshit pop babd. Lost any semblance of their indie rock identity that actually made them, you know, good.
A rush of blood is a masterpiece imo, X&Y and Viva La Vida were good, even Mylo Xyloto had some good tracks. But it definitely wasn’t any more than an “ok” album, and clearly where they dove into mediocrity. Haven’t made anything worth listening to since. And I just read the Have a new album releasing in October, with the lead single “feelslikeimfallinginlove” with no spaces because, it’s artistic and shit. Are they competing for most douchey/boring song title of all time? Clearly no plans to spread their wings and broach some other, more interesting and nuanced subject matter.

well at least the art is kinda nice: https://www.coldplay.com/

Everyday Life has Trouble in Town which puts it above the others by default

the ticking clock beat and soft sound of the new single isn't that bad but whyyy not doing a bit more with the song

because Coldplay are easily at that point where they can release a nine minute drone track as the lead single for a new album and people will still see the supporting tour because they know damn well a tour will be the hits and only a track or two from their latest album, so whatever they release no matter how effortless will be a money machine
that or their creativity is burnt tf out

I have to admit.
I like the new single.
