Yeah I still get nothing from this. I'm not totally surprised as there isn't much 'abstract' hip-hop I like. I want big dominant beats with a lot of groove and this is just the wrong place to look for it.

I thought last little simz was very weak at a first listen, I barely managed to finish it
Superman That is already a banger

why the fuck is Robert Fripp credited on some tracks? did the madlads sample king crimson or something? kinda makes sense
this very much pushes the envelope in a direction that I was not expecting jesus
that gy!be comparison is very on-point

I think I prefer the new Armand hammer over this. Just a little, but still

There's apparently quite a few samples from fairly popular artists on here based on what I've read, but none of which I recognize.

Lost my biological father and stepfather this year and this album captures all the feelings of grief possibly better than anything else I've heard

Slex < 3
Listening to the Fantano interview right now... seems as though this album was basically finished by the time Grogs passed, and would have dropped last fall had it not taken so long to get the samples cleared. Their biggest inspirations here were the artists they toured with pre-pandemic (Slauson Malone, Bodymeat, Jock Strap), as well as how much they hated the process of making the major label hip hop album that was the S/T. Ritchie explicitly states that this thing would've never seen the light of day after Grogs' passing had it been another fun Floss-type record.

Groggs famously had a lot of issues with alcohol and dealt with depression, I haven't read much into these men but I'm sure all 3 share a lot of similar feelings to some degree so it kinda does make sense that they would progress like this

This album is so dense and heady, I feel like there's always something new to discover with each subsequent play. Top picks, knees, bye storm, san fran, and outside are the songs I've been enjoying the most
