“why is this review getting neg'd so much tf”
Critical reviews for popular bands/albums always get random negs that have little to do with the quality of the review.

Fine, new Btbam album you guys can circle jerk over, that's cool, as long as the dudes are getting more fans it's all good. Fuck you Pika you moron.

the thing with all those troll ratings is, that i rarely - if ever - see a compelling argument. its all just nonsensical trivial crap that could very well come out of some 5 year olds mouth. this especially holds true for bands like this.
then ofc u have all those edgy oneliners, ppl rating after 5 secs runtime and the occasional metal elitist who thinks music peaked before christ. pretty neurotic behaviour. how full of urself and how shoehorned into ur own tiny shitbubble do u have to be? jesus fuck get out of ur duckugly ass alrdy.
even if this aint ur cup of tea u have to appreciate some dude juxtaposing with his base thru these complex songs like carving a fucking cake. dont even get me started on those drums. production in general here is superb and crisp af, thefuck do u want? if some ppl have the nerves to 2 this then i rly wanna know what theyre listing to an a daily basis, must be some sort of secret gourmet club with records of unparalleled brilliance only.
guess its w/e, since "ItS aLl SuBjEcTiVe". no, go yankyerself dweeb

"This isn't really for me I guess. BTBAM have definitely brought back a little more of the heaviness but I just don't find the songwriting on this album that interesting. I can't even pinpoint the issue. It just doesn't elicit any kind of emotional response from me. And the weird passages on this album, where they switch genres randomly or have weird vocal parts, sound cheesy to me, unlike the first Colors. The production is pretty good, but something feels missing, almost like it's slightly too clean and needs to be a little dirtier sounding. Honestly I don't know why they called this Colors II because outside of a few riffs and callbacks they have on this album, this sounds nothing like Colors. It's closer to their albums from the 2010s than Colors. It's also so long that it feels like a chore to get through. As for positives, a few songs had some decent sections, like Bad Habits, The Double Helix of Extinction, and Stare Into the Abyss. The drum solos in Fix the Error are really cool. The breakdown in the middle of Revolution in Limbo with harsh vocals from Blake Richardson was pretty cool. But overall, I definitely won't be coming back to this."
review on RYM, agree with everything said except for the wont be coming back part.

LMAO @in7hox thx for the new pasta, but seriously how can you be surprised by how divisive this band is, given their style. maybe if the band actually wrote songs with structure and let their best motifs ride out instead of shoehorning in ten billion other quirky worthless passages in one shitstorm of a song, they would be more appreciated. Because genuinely their songwriting is fucking stupid. People can dress it up as creative or progressive or whatever but it's mostly just lazy and a waste of potential. It's not that hard to boil down music to it's best elements and make it cohesive. It's not that hard to have some semblance of quality control whilst still being longwinded or progressive.
I'm partial to technical wank so I can tolerate btbams style but you can't blame other people for hating it exactly for what it is. Plus the awful cleans and run of the mill growls dont help none.

Yes, and consecutive listens after that.

My only major complaint with this is its fucking long, those 12 tracks really do go on. Theres a lot here and you dont really get a reprieve. Its a great record but its a marathon to get through it all.
My fav track is track 4 and by the time i get to it i feel like im halfway through but im nowhere near it

Yeah it's too long and the fact every song runs into the next one is not helping (I know it's a nod to Colors but still).
Some random thoughts:
- Fuck yeah band name drop
- Fix the Error good
- Bad Habits is the big highlight
- Human is Hell is nice but it's not White Walls

This things a marathon. Theres some really cool stuff here and the fact it all runs into each other can make it a bit confusing on "what song did i like or was this part of that song???".

pos, this is way overnegged. Love this: "Part of me can’t help wonder if these odd meanderings are like geocache locations left within the compositions to help remind them of exactly where they are in their discography."
I wonder whether there's been a big swapover in fanbases for bands like this i.e. their OG young fans got old and now newer fans are finding them and taking the helm.
Interested to hear this. I mean Crimson II is cool, right? Maybe music sequels are okay?

There's not a track I dislike on here tbh but the album could've definitely been shorter.
Double Helix, Revolution in Limbo, Fix This Error, Never Seen/Future Shock and The Future Is Behind Us are my personal highlights.

No bad songs, agreed Pleb. But The Future Is Behind Us is without question my least favorite on here.
Although there are many highlights, my tops are easily Revolution / Error, Human, Never Seen, and Double Helix. Monochrome is such an awesome song too, perfect way to open this bad bitch....
