This album does seem like it’ll be ‘guilty as charged’ - first song is a love song to Peter Parker, already done a little sick in my mouth

Yes they are undoubtedly to blame for almost all, as you put it, "empowered dweeb" semi-ironic rock music in the past 20 years, but the real kicker is that they're somehow even worse at it than most of the bands they inspired

I'll chalk it up to TMBG and Devo both also being influential in that field
