"Probably the most tolerable take on the worst genre in music, this"
Dunno man, there are probably like a 1000 metal sub-genres that are worse than country or psychedelic rock (whichever you're referring to!)

You do know which tho. But if you want it to be cool just call it American Folk XD

"What should I listen to that is similar in sound to this Leon III album?"
One recommendation that has not come up yet is Barclay James Harvest, their classic stuff sounds very similar to this.

Nothing is worse than country imo
But progressive metal is very close to being just as lolbad

Mainstream glossy country or ‘country n western’ style stuff I guess can be bad

I like prog metal enough for it to be in my charts. But I'll grant that when it's bad, it absolutely blows.

I hated country for the longest time but that was because I only listened to what was on the radio

been vibing Rumors of Water q a bit, but this isn't hitting me beyond the (v nice) chill mood yet
|

Pleasant stuff here, well crafted and weighty without being ott or wanky.
Quality record, rumours of water is superb. I have no doubt whatsoever the band are over the age of 30 because it’s not served up cheap directionless faff as is the usual nowadays.
