Opening with the war noises was hilarious

I thought this was a lot of fun. Feels like vintage "fuck the system" punk or something, but I admittedly paid almost no attention to the lyrics my first two spins. Regardless, liked this a lot on how it sounded alone.

Joy is the melodic one
Brutalism is the brutal one (thx Captain Obvious)

I do want to let this new one run its course first though

Joy is their most joyful for sure (regardless the really eerie and sad parts).

This is great punk and there's nothing wrong with that! Really enjoying this one, Joy still my favourite.

Reigns might be one of their best songs yet. But overall I love brutalism and Joy is my second favourite album all-time so it was bound to end up here. not disappointed though.

Flip flopping between 3.5-4.
The album cover is an accurate depiction of the music at hand: a punch in the face. Defo a step down from Joy but that’s probably gonna go down as one of the best punk records of the decade.

Brutalism is miles better than joy

that's an opinion that can be considered valid
i personally prefer Joy but to each their own

A punch in the face this most certainly is not, more like a gentle caressing tickle with an unwanted reach around to finish.

I really don't hear a Sex Pistols comparison in this aside from them both being English. Pistols come off as even more melodic to me, and the songs/riffs are a lot more straightforward to my ear.

Ive got mixed feelings about this. The first four tracks or so ruled, but they were also exactly what I expected. So was everything else. But I started to care less as they came on. Idk. Need to try again. Opener is mint.

Yeah, it lacks the aggression of Brutalism or the pure melodic intrigue of Joy. Still a great record, but not to the level of previous LPs as many here have said. Still love this band a ton, though.
