oh wow, this is the first time they've grabbed me since Fortress. Took a minute to get used to Rody Walker's vocals again, but I feel like the changes in his technique make it a little more palatable now. And these new gutturals are a nice change of pace.
All Hands is absolutely wonderful too

Reading the comments, it definitely looks like retired Kezia-Fortress era PTH fans are pleased with this release. I wonder why that is? I guess they've brought back part of that older sound with this one?
Anyway, I have stopped trying to pick my favorite song. Album gud.

PTH is my favorite band and I think this might be their best album. My only complaint is that there isn't as much lead guitar work and when there is it's sort of buried in the mix. Rody's vocals are better than ever imo.

I dunno, i'd guess a mixture of time (Kezia/Fortress are both over a decade old at this point) and the general lineup/songwriting changes stoked enough interest to pull people back. Plus the general concept and theme of the album are definitely relevant right now

Oh oooh, Melon just called All Hands unlistenable, I now hate this album as a result.
(as a long time fan, album is the best since Fortress imo)

Great album, my only complaint is it sometimes lacks bite. The guitar work is mostly clean and lacks crunch, there doesn't seem to be as many heavy riffs as Volition and the vocals are mostly clean.
In some ways it reminds me of Scurrilous because of that - but luckily more varied.
I will say that there does seem to be a lot to unpack and already it keeps drawing me back. From the Sky, Reverie and Gardenias are my favourites so far.

If i had to make out any weak links on this, it would be the first side of Fireside for me. Just can't get into the vocal performance yet, but second half is stellar. Also, as good as Rivet's hook is, the verse parts sound a little too on the nose in terms of pop punk standard for me.

I hate the vocals here but love the music. Just gonna keep jamming until I come around.

the instrumentals are geared towards supporting the vocal melodies more than any other PtH album tbh, and i'm not sure whether this has positive or negative implications for your mission

I don't have a problem with the melodies just the vocals themselves. I'm hoping for a Patrick Stickles/Kristian Matsson phenomenon where I wake up one day and suddenly that squealy prog-by-numbers voice sounds transcendent.

"Oh oooh, Melon just called All Hands unlistenable, I now hate this album as a result."
Who cares, his opinion is irrelevant right now, he's only giving great scores to "woke" IG albums that BLM white kids like.
