Hmmmm first full Paradise Lost album since Draconian Times.... Wow really, really good songs but two major letdowns: where are the powerful yet melodic voice and the deep growls of Nick Holmes?? This is either a ratherless powerless albeit not bad run-of-the-mill goth rock voice or a hmmm snarl without any volume and range...
also the artificial 'Modern' drum sound kills the warm and organic feel of the songs...

Yup, I found that the drums actually sound nice compared to a lot of modern metal records. The production in general is one of their best.
Holmes does fine here and those murky, tired growls fit the genre. Plus, he's almost 50 anyway...
