How they manage to get heavier and poppier the same way while keeping their songwriting chops and also manage to increase the technical level is beyond me. This band is on a whole different level than 99% of all contemporaries

Still, the tightrope they are walking with their records being pretty similar in style is really really small. Would really love to see them branching out more in either their melodic spectrum or heavier side

I understand where you're coming from, but if you're looking for really heavy music in the same vein as Counterparts, Brendan's side project END is for you.

Agreed though, next time around it would be cool if they incorporated more quiet, subdued melodic moments like the end of Burn or Tragedy imo. They do those certain melodic passages better than anyone else.

Agreed hard. If the next album sounds basically the same I'll be disappointed. Love how well these guys execute this sound but it has been basically this EXACT sound for at least three albums now.

Also shoutout to END if you wanna hear what a monstrously heavy Counterparts could sound like.

Idk I love Brendan but his lyrics get pretty cringe at points. His #br00tal moments are bleh.

Like, I get how screaming "I SHOULD HAVE LET YOU DIE" over and over is cathartic but it's also pretty middle school "edgy," at least to me.

For me lyrics are all about the delivery and how they fit the music. I've seen the same lyrics be called honest and well-written while also being called pandering and bad. It's all subjective, I think Brendan's lyrics fit Counterparts' sound perfectly

This is like discount Shai Hulud with breakdowns, not too different from their usual output. Not seeing what’s so special about it
