also [2] to Slex's whole comment (minus 1989 having the best two TS songs)

1989 was a necessary outlet for her pop ambitions. It's perfect and I'm so glad it exists.

I also wish she would create another Speak Now though, I think country-pop is her niche and she's overplaying her hand in mainstream pop.

So I totally, wholly agree and disagree with Slex's comment.

Hot take though, the pop bangers on Red > 1989

I’ll meet you in the middle and say nah the bangers on 1989 are better but as a whole, Red>

why wasn't Cruel Summer (A.K.A the best pop song of 2019 tied with Now That I Found You by Carly) the first or at least second single

Best pop song of 2019 is i-mage by Aimer or Silhouette by Maison Book Girl, but agreed Cruel Summer would have been a powerhouse of a second single. Me is totally dumb but worked as a first single I think, screwed with people's expectations

I also wish Cruel Summer was the 1st single. ME! did not need to exist at all.

I'm glad Cruel Summer wasn't a single. When all the best songs are released ahead of time the album has nowhere to go but down. Besides, I'm sure it'll be a single soon enough.

Also, I'm going to go against what I just said about her returning to country pop. I'm not sure she could do that without seeming entirely disingenuous.

I love that one. I feel like this one of the rare albums where the middle third is the best

I love Death by a Thousand Cuts! I centered my review on it. To me it encapsulates Taylor's genre going forward

I think it's what this album was trying to be but like, fumbling it's way to it

I know thousands others have said this, but this would be great if the bottom five songs were taken off of the record
