I don’t care for Chelsea Wolfe but generally like Hayter’s output so far.



I think the negative comments about her voice on this record are hyperbole: I think she’s a good singer. Not amazing but she’s not embarrassing. The throat singing I could do without.



In general I’m just not in the same level as her; she’s pushing herself as destroyer of Worlds and I just see crabby white chick.



All that said this will be one of my better rated albums at the end of the year. It’s creative and executed well.

See i dont get 'destroyer of worlds' at all THAT is hyperbole shes merely purging and exorcising. Shes trying to destroy the negavitve shackles and insecurities that being abused puts on you (for life ) by using her music as a therapy/release to deal and with an abusive past and all the anger and self loathing that comes with it. How that translates as 'crabby white chick'ive got no idea?

I don’t expect everyone to do research on all of the artists they listen to, but kristin has been very open about what her music is for, what it represents, and the rape and abuse she has experienced. some of these comments people are making are uninformed and cringeworthy at best and sound misogynistic at worst

anyway, wasn’t calling you or anyone misogynistic, especially because you were not familiar with her or her story before making any comments. this music is so over the top and violent and angry but there’s a reason for that. if you were to just act like her experiences weren’t a big deal and she should get over it or she sounds “crabby” like the person above did (not claiming they have knowledge about her either so i’m not calling them misogynistic) it would certainly seem like it, wouldn’t it? this isn’t to gain brownie points from some random person on the internet, what’s the value in that? i’m just asking for people to be more careful

regardless of the artist's true catalyst for their creation, someone else's interpretation of the art they chose to put forward isn't misogynistic simply because they're not in lockstep.

this is the same logic as thinking "The Pianist" is a treacly, pointless exercise in misery porn which [gasp!] shouldn't automatically imply insensitivity towards victims of the Holocaust (or any such tragedy), though many people will point that finger if you voice your objections to the piece of art in question.

I was just saying some of this stuff in this thread is, as you said, in bad taste and some of it “at worst sounds misogynistic”



you’re quite a bit off base on what my problem with “crabby” was. crabby isn’t a look, its a state or a feeling. “you’re a bit crabby this morning” would mean someone is maybe irritable or overly sensitive, complaining etc. nothing to do with looks. it just came off really... offputting

'Crabby'to me says a needlessly irritable person. The way you would find her irritable is through her music and interviews. A crabby white woman to me says someone always biting and cranky. Her being cranky while writing an album about being abused i think is allowed actually.Id probably be quite crabby about it too. You keep trying to belittle the subject matter and pass it of as some image shes created and WHY SHOULD I CARE? attitude.
