All this hype made me want to check out the album... and I was disappointed. I was hoping they got back on track and released something as good as Era or Exile, but they didn't. Sad times.

Seriously, check them out though. Also listen to Fit for an Autopsy. Again, any album by them is better than this.

I have to disagree, even without listening to the others ahahah...I just kinda know what to expect there...There's several aspects in here you're clearly dismissing or not considering...and I kinda know why you don't like this. Also that's what hypes do...an immediate counter-hype. But for what its worth...I came onto this thinking I was 3ing this, ended up 3.5ing on double listen. And now its a pretty clean 4.

OK bro. Will do. I know its a bit nonsensical but I explained I kinda know what to expect there (so I may be wrong). You don't like this cause there's some tool vibes in here, also some RoN ones...which got a lot of hate...from what I've read this was more a new direction from the band and I dug it. Also this album has a nice personal side lyrically, but since you 3d this don't know if you're willing to check that out.

I never actually bother with lyrics, truth be told. Even for my non-bm fives. I don't think they really matter that much - as long as they don't go overboard, of course.

Rivers of Nihil. A better band.
Yeah, the thing about the lyrics here is because they're real excerpts from vocal's mother's diary. It really gave me that extra on further listens.

This Is Exile and Era are awesome! nonetheless, I have to say that those two and this one incarnate different sides of the band. Both are equally good, just different. Personally I'd say Whitechapel's best is a tie between this one and Exile
