Agreed. I like the song Satan on the wait and one or other towards the end when they decide here and there to be slightly musical.

first spin through and satan in the wait has really caught my ear

Also no postHC or grind on this which is very deceiving. This is like a dark postpunk noise "band". Experimental stuff and I can see this above average because of that.

the reason they hate me on repeat is a perfect endless cycle

"The Reason They Hate Me is the only engaging composition here"
That song is good but it isn't even a highlight compared to the rest. Idk how anyone could criticize this for lacking music... Are we listening to the same compositions here? These arrangements are so engaging, so well thought out.

I like everything here except City Song. The seven-minute build up was not called for, and I honestly find it annoying.

4 minute buildup* and totally disagree. The buildup gets me into the headspace for the crazy climax to come. It's incredibly rewarding.

There’s far too much pointless droning repetition which will get a pass because it gets tagged as ‘atmospheric’ or ‘experimental’ (it isn’t even either of those things really, although I can see the first one at least). Very little in the way of anything musically engaging & I’m struggling to see the appeal.

To each their own. Imo saying it isn't very musical or atmospheric is like saying rap is just talking: it's an oversimplification. There's plenty to sink one's teeth into

I hate being a moderate for every new album that comes out. I can't join in on the fun.

It’s not an oversimplification if that’s how the individual interprets what they’ve heard.
I’m struggling to see what’s enjoyable about it hence my harsh criticism, but that’s not to say I can’t accept that others feel differently. It’s actually quite an unusual occurrence for me as usually I can see the appeal despite my own personal experience not being a positive one. I’m just confused.

Nick Cave + Swans + Mathcore + sprinkle of end times = excellent, cacophonous concoction.

Daughters Spelled Wrong is a way better opener than City Song. I know they're completely different, but still. I kind of have to agree with Demon here. Maybe it's because I don't really listen to any industrial stuff but this isn't making a lasting impression on me after the initial weirdness of it is starting to wear off.

“Also no postHC or grind on this which is very deceiving.” huh? based on what, the band’s tags? they’ve evolved. it’s like getting upset that Ulver is still tagged as black metal

Heard a bit off this, and it is def not a genre for me.

Yeah, I'll take this kind of mature songwriting any day over their messy grind early days tbh. This is a lot like their self titled record, just much darker, which is always a plus - especially this close to Halloween!

I can never remember which Daughter(s) band is which lol. Iirc there’s an indie one, a hardcore one and a noise rock one.
