Macabre has some awesome tracks but the production is so woeful it hurts.

I read through everything Calc...very sorry to hear what happened to you and the show being dissapointing for you period. From the sounds of it, it must’ve been a cultural trainwreck. I have very strong statements about how the NYC 2015 show went for me but I think it’s best for me to not dwell in the past cause thinking about it in light of what happened to you will just reignite anger I still have of that night but let me just say that it mostly had to do with the fans at the show and their deplorable behavior. It definitely turned me off from going to see them and the band period for awhile.
Curious to know though, what did you ask the band? I remember during my VIP experience I asked them their favorite song from ARCHE to play live and Kyo answered Rinkaku but there’s no particular reason why he favors it so much.

The fans at the VIP sucked ass but it at the show it was kinda inspiring to see no riots or booing. I asked why did they change producers, Kaoru laughed and said they just wanted a change. Basically, PR answer.

Yea this guy is responsible for making out last three albums sounding amazing while giving them all their own unique sound and flavor, but we wanted a change

Let me guess, the VIP fans had their screws loose when it came time for photo op, lol? Really, the only motivation for me to see DEG live again is for them to make up for that show in 2015. I can’t even remember most of the set nor how the band was live that night...that’s how much the VIPers ruined it for me. Quite sad considering the TURDzettE played a better show (and I say that very loosely) a few months later and I went to that one just for laughs.

My full post detailed everything I had to say, the start and the end are regarding fans. I won't pay to see them in Europe but I'll give them a chance at redemption in Japan.

Re-read it. Got second hand cringe just reading it, Calc. There was one incident at my show I’ll never forget cause this dude had a very public meltdown post show over tour merch being sold out ‘cept the ladies tee. He was basically putting all the blame on the poor dude running merch and was shouting (almost to the point of literally crying), “I’VE BEEN A FAN FOR X AMOUNT OF YEARS!!!!! YOU MEAN TO TELL ME THAT YOU’RE SOLD OUT OF TEES?!?!?!?! HOW DARE YOU RUN OUT OF TEES!!!!!!”
You can believe my account of this display of behavior or not, but that for me was the epitome of DEG’s “obsessed and devoted” fans, SMFH.

The entitlement...yeesh. At least my list of bands I need to see live is decreasing, although there's a few I'll probably never see.
|
| |
Terrible fanbase overall, but friends in it and the music itself is worth it.

Kisou is not worse than this that makes no sense
Last time i checked this didn't have Embryo or Mushi or Karasu etc

The songs are better easily but it sounds so bad that I never listen to it.

The remastered versions on Vestiges sounds good though. I don’t listen to it as often as post-VULGAR DEG but I really like the album a lot more than I give credit for.

it's a visual-kei album from nearly 20 years ago, it sounds exactly how I expect it to sound lol

Nothing sounded as worse as this album though...not even Macabre, TMOAB nor the original Uroboros, lol.
|
| |
Tbh I never noticed that Uroboros sounded bad until I heard the remaster. And in 2008 I wasn’t really paying attention to things like production quality

Ironically, my first taste of DEG was the remastered version. The original came later down the road for me.

There are some old visual kei albums with pretty awesome production, namely malice mizer's merveilles, but I guess they are few and far between. Dir en Grey's first album also sounds pretty good nowadays.
