Catch Fire is easily peak Trio for me. I'm not sure why but I wasn't too huge on From Here to Infirmary...felt a little too reserved in comparison.

this is my fav trio but like being the first album that came out while being w fan of them, it being one of the biggest return to forms fucking ever, and it coming out at like the lowest point as far as cutting suicidal thoughts and shit and having this thing to keep me going throughout the hellish month of august and then later on just living with it being as amazing as it is makes me just want to give all three of them a hug fucking hell i love this band

That's the beauty of music man. Yeah most people hate the new Bullet album but that shit hit home hard for me in spite of its misfires. logically it's a 2.5-3 but that emotional impact is the extra .5-1 for me.

catch fire was my starting point actually lol it’s kinda grew off me overtime since while it still wrecks hard a lot of the mid tempo songs aren’t really what i usually want out of trio compared to like a good mourning or remains but it’s still full of great shit. dan is especially amazing on it

understandable. I see Bullet as one of those bands that's as close to perfect for breakupcore as I've seen in the mainstream.

I think a lot of it is the mood I listened to the albums in. I really, really wanted to like Alkaline Trio because they seemed similar to Bad Religion in the abstract, minus a lot of the politics--which is a bonus for me--but something about their lyrics rub me the wrong way and a lot of the songs feel too long, even when they're short, to begin with. Maybe I wasn't in the right mindset when listening to their older stuff, it was earlier this year and I wanted to immediately fall in love with their tunes. I didn't.
My Shame Is True has a lot of solid but not groundbreaking songs that I enjoyed.
In a year, I might revisit them and change my mind. I didn't enjoy this release much, aside from the opener and closer. But that could all change!

I’m really glad I gave this so many tries. I was sitting at a 2.5 my first 3 or 4 spins but, for whatever reason, I was incredibly persistent with this and it obviously grew eventually. Although it was very gradual. Like each additional spin I gave this, 1 or 2 songs clicked. But it led me to diving through their old stuff so I’ll always love this even if it took a million tries to lol

I like Skiba's voice a lot for the genre tbh, Andriano has a strange country harmony twang going for it when it pairs with Skiba's that really throws me off
