I'm sure this has been mentioned before, but in Rainbow Signs there's a reference to the song "Oh Mary, Dont You Weep", which is also referenced on the chorus of Cities of the Plain

Saw Foxing and mewithoutYou two years ago and it was incredible. By the end of the show Aaron had his shirt off, Foxing was on stage providing extra instrumentation & vocals and they blared out Cattail Down and In a Sweater Poorly Knit.

I really hope these early listeners (+ Ricky) aren't overhyping the LP. I know I will absolutely love it either way, but I've seen it way too many times where a band member will say "this new album is by the far the best thing we've ever done, and it's heavier than ever, and it's a crazy roller coaster ride!" and then it drops and fans are underwhelmed. Sometimes too much hype can be a disservice in the long run.

Yeah, I mentioned somewhere that I hope it isn't heavy in the way that Andy Hull said Cope was going to be or the way that Dustin Kensrue said To Be Everywhere was going to be, because.... that's like not heavy.
I'm sure I'll enjoy it regardless, but I always take those kind of statements lightly.

I'm resigned to the fact that I have no idea what the new album will sound like. I know I'll love it though.

I can't get over August 6th. It has overtaken Cities of the Plain for me as best on here.

I've heard the album (not saying how, idc if you believe me) and it's been only just a week of pretending I haven't and it's already too much lmao
AMA (within reason)

Are the screams all muted like in Julia or mixed, or mostly all loud?
|
| |
Screams are only like that in Julia, rest of the songs they're in they're either harshly distorted or 100% the focal point

Brother, Sister is the definitive starting point imo

hmmm, gimme a couple of your favourite deep cuts.. both of youse..
|

i genuinely can't imagine you enjoying these guys much, butcher. they were basically the thinking christian's myspace band in 2006, and imo the sound hasn't aged well at all.
i have to admit brother, sister has some interesting things happening behind the marble-mouthed junior high poetry slam, but i just don't get the appeal on this site.

Satty's highlights: campfire singalongs, child abuse, morning prayer
my highlights: Messes of Men, O Porcupine, Paper Hanger, Everything Was Beautiful and Nothing Hurt, Fox's Dream
bear in mind all their albums, Brother Sister most of all, are best as a front to back listen
