“City Swine” is absolutely mind-melting. What a whacked out nightmare of a song. I doubt there’s anything like it out there.

City Swine is mental, but then Atomic Age happens and it’s all over. Best kind of mind-fuck.

Also oml Lower World is so disconcerting and ugly and grimy. Maybe my favorite track off the album.

this fucking ruuuuuules
the jazz influence feels a lot more prevalent on this one than the swirling chaos on Alphaville
|

this always painted the same sort of noir new york/dark cabaret vibes mental picture for me atmospherically as a lot of tom waits. even though these 2 artists sound absolutely nothing alike lmao
perhaps it's the jazz instrumentation and influence

After repeated listens I think this is way better than Alphaville indeed. I feel the Tom Waits vibes as well. There is only other metal record that made me recall Tom Waits, which is Lengsel's The Kiss The Hope, a pretty neat band from Norway that went from playing pretty beautiful Black metal to that awesome experimental release. Coming back to this album I need to update my score to a 4'5 because I revisit it often looking for an atmosphere that is just not present elsewhere.
